This Is Me

February 2, 2008 / by jonfry

Hi, my name is Jonathan Fry, people call me Jon. Actually everyone calls me by a mix of my name: Jon Fry, Fry, Mr. Fry, Fry Guy, Frylock, and it continues. I came from Mountain View, which is in the South Bay, where I grew up and I transferred my job as well. Since I was 16, I’ve been working for Starbucks and now I’m working at the store in the same parking lot as Best Buy, out by the mall. It’s been a good job for a service/retail job with full benefits including tuition reimbursement and stock grants for part time employees… Not to sound like an ad campaign, really.

It’s hard to think of different things to talk about when writing a description about yourself. Let’s see… I’m trying to picture what I would say if someone asked me to describe myself but that completely depends on who’s asking. If it were someone in the class asking me I think I’d tell them all the above, that I recently got out of a bad relationship ( a good thing), that my friends kick ass but since they’re all from my job and I’m one of two guys out  of twenty employees they’re all girls. Then I might go on a tangent about a store dinner I had go last night at Applebee’s and how weird it was to have one table for 20 with me at one end and Jeremy all the way at the other. I’d realize I’d gone off into a random convo and try to get it back on track… This isn’t working at all.

Besides work, school, and trying to fit in friends in between, I’m pretty sure I do some awfully common things like play guitar, work on tattoo designs, write, skate, hike, and make use of Chico’s diverse bar scene.

I’m taking this course because it’s required for my major and, to be honest, I’m mildly skeptical of the hall environment for an English class. After two years of mainly English classes with about 40 people max, this is quite a change so we’ll see how this goes.

Also, if you’re interested, look up my myspace page.

    Cool

True, the "lecture hall" environment can seem daunting at first.  But, who know, it might grow on you......

I like pirate boots too. Or is it the leggings you are so excited about?

I too have some amazing friends. They are truely the stuff of life.

Are you an english major?  That may seem like a stupid question, but I am an humanities major, and take a lot of english classes.

yeah I'm an English major. the story behind that picture was that i'd just stepped out of the Pirates of the Carribian when I saw this guy and promptly asked for his boots. He carelessly bumped me out of his way with his shoulder, an action that many people saw and commented about and when I asked to at least take a picture with him he denied me. So I tossed my camera to my sister who snapped the picture and then I pants-ed that a*%hole and took off. Well, there was some camera malfunction and my sister paniced and ran too. That guy was so pissed off he immediately turned on the guy in the red shirt; I guess he didn't even notice me behind him.
